8 Apple Cider Vinegar Benefits For Skin You Must Know About

Our vanity is lined with bottles of olive oil and coconut oil for easy access when we get an urge to DIY. Vinegar is the latest kitchen staple we've added to our bathroom beauty stock. Vinegar has a slew of benefits when added to your regular hair and skincare routine. You can use it to clear up dandruff, soothe dry skin, and disinfect your makeup brushes.

Naturally, apple cider vinegar (which is the best choice for topical applications) is an anti-fungal, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory. ACV also has alpha-hydroxy acids and acetic acid built in, so it can give your skin a much-need exfoliating treatment while balancing pH.

In this post, I will share with you 8 apple cider vinegar benefits for the skin you must know about.

1. Skin Toner

Create a toner using 1 part ACV and 2 parts water. Rub over clean skin morning and night. If your skin is too sensitive, then dilute it. Don’t spray on; it will cause eye irritation. ACV is a great treatment for people with oily skin, acne, scars, dark/age spots, and milia.

2. Wart Remover

This is amazing! Soak a small cotton ball in ACV, then fasten it to the wart overnight with a band-aid or porous skin tape. After a couple of treatments, the skin may swell; the wart will turn black, and eventually fall off. Continue this until the skin is completely clear and the wart virus is dead.

3. Soothes Sunburns

The sun is a wonderful ally, but when you spend too much time under the sun’s harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays, it causes sunburn. Sunburn can cause damage your skin, making it red and painful. At times, there may be pus-filled blisters. ACV is an age-old treatment for sunburn. A natural astringent, it helps soothe the pain and speed up the healing process. In addition, it calms irritation, itching, and inflammation.

Mix equal amounts of ACV and cool water. Massage this solution onto the affected areas to turn down the heat. Repeat several times daily for a few days until your condition improves. Alternatively, add 1 to 2 cups of ACV to your bathtub filled with lukewarm water. Soak in it for about 30 minutes. Use this sunburn remedy once daily or as needed.

4. Freedom From Smelly Feet

Foot odor, or smelly feet, is a common problem that can be embarrassing and unpleasant for you and the people around you. Apple cider vinegar’s antimicrobial properties help disinfect your feet by eliminating odor-causing bacteria.

Prepare a foot soak with 1 cup of ACV and 4 to 5 cups of warm water. Soak your feet in this solution for 10 to 15 minutes. Finally, wash your feet thoroughly with an antibacterial soap and water. Use this home treatment once daily for a few weeks.

5. Fight Yeast Infections

One of the best home remedies to treat a yeast infection is Apple Cider Vinegar. Add 1 and a half cups of ACV into a bathtub filled with warm water, and then soak in it for about 20 minutes. This should be done once a day for the first 3 days of the infection.

6. Foot And Skin Fungus

Just as ACV can help kill Candida in the body, it is often useful against yeast and fungus on the skin and nails. If you have foot or toe fungus, soak the feet in 1 cup of ACV in water or apply directly to the affected area. For skin fungus or yeast, apply ACV directly. For children or those with sensitive skin, it is best to dilute the ACV with water before applying to the skin.

7. Treat Dandruff

Apple Cider Vinegar can be very effective against dandruff. Mix with equal parts water and apply to scalp with spray bottle or cloth. Leave on for 1-2 hours with a shower cap and rinse. This can be done 1-2 times a week for best results.

8. Hair Rinse

Acetic acid, the main ingredient in ACV, will remove build up from styling products and conditioners and strengthen the hair shaft, leaving you with soft, shiny strands. It will also balance hair’s pH level, stimulate the scalp to promote hair growth, and is a cure for dandruff. Dilute 1/3 cup ACV in 4 cups of water and pour over your hair after shampooing. Leave it in for a few seconds before rinsing your hair using cold water to seal the hair shaft and create more shine.

Apple cider vinegar has a lot to offer to benefit the health and that includes skin care. ACV is a simple remedy for skin care issues that need to be addressed immediately. In this post, I shared with you 8 apple cider vinegar benefits for the skin you must know about.
